past events launch issue 7
For the launch of our seventh issue, we were once again hosted by the wonderful venue of Avenue Public. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, both of the featured artists -Hanorah Music and Carla Oteiza- had to cancel at the last minute. However, we managed to curate a playlist and find another set of DJs to create a nice sonic ambience. As in the last launch, we had Gustavo Salinas as an event photographer and we collected a fun set of polaroids for the evening!
year 2026vernissage all that is solid melts into air
The Pit’s first-ever visual art exhibition, 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘵𝘴 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘢𝘪𝘳, was a reflection on ritual, labour, and creative transformation of oftentimes cruel conditions of production into fuel for beauty. The exhibition was hosted by L’Espace Parallèle in the heart of the Plateau, and featured the crafts of artists based in Montréal, Toronto, and New York City, namely: Alejandra Zamudio, Barbara Ottevaere, Chris Shubat, Colleen Alcorn, Daphne Faye Boxill, Evalena Puddifoot, Gabor Bata, Hannah Ferguson, Hanorah, Jeremy Desbiens, Jules Chanvillard, Laura Mota-Juang, Médéric Corbin, Mbuto Tembo, Océane Buxton, Reid Urchison, Robbie Munro, Sadie Quinn, and xavier ludd.
year 2025festival expozine
By the time of the 2025 Expozine we had 6 issues in print, and our stand looked fuller and way more interesting than last year’s! We had some of our fifth issue’s leftover merch which was done in collaboration with artist Sadie Quinn, plus some of our regular merch which includes matchboxes and bumper stickers. We took advantage of the circulation of people to promote our then-upcoming exhibition All That Is Solid Melts Into Air with a fun set of business cards. It was lovely to reconnect with some of the regular Expozine sellers, meet new ones, and engage with the passionate audience of Montreal.
year 2025festival yolk’s literary oktoberfest
While our participation in Expozine has allowed us to engage with many of the printed matter creators in Montreal, Yolk’s Literary Oktoberfest was a beautiful ode to the written word itself. Not only was the curation of the participating organizations spectacular, but we also got to witness the engaging talks and workshops that were planned. It was a very wholesome and inspiring evening, and it was a pleasure to participate and showcase our work alongside the many talented publishers and magazines that make Montreal’s culture so rich.
year 2025launch issue 6
Our 6th launch took place in our original event location- the secret garden in the Plateau. To mark the end of this event space, we planned a particularly magical evening, starring Jared St. James’ otherworldly ballads and a special collection of by the issues’ featured artist, Bilak Jewelry. Guests were also encouraged to play the mini pool that was showcased in this issue’s cover! During the event, we had the talented Gustavo Salinas take Polaroids of our guests.
year 2025launch issue 5
Our fifth launch took place at the Plateau’s essential community house, Maison de L’Amitié. The theme behind it was a country family fair, and we encouraged our guests to participate in our homemade games such as a giant Guess Who, Put The Olive in the Martini, and a bean-bag throw. We were kindly sponsored by Café Rufián and Dieu du Ciel, and thus provided our guests with top-notch coffee and summer-themed beers in addition to hot-dogs, cake, and lemonade. Metatron Press, one of Montreal’s great independent presses, was featured in our magazine and set up a stand where they could also chat with guests. We also had the honour of launching our first merch line, made and designed by local artist Sadie Quinn. Last but not least, our guests were entertained by Madame DuBois, who clowned around the evening writing collaborative poetry in toilet paper rolls!
year 2025launch issue 4
Our fourth launch took place in the bowels of a Plateau basement formally known as The Rat’s Nest and featured a fast and exhilarating performance by the Latino heavy metal band Samurai. Our guests were provided with free cigarettes and snacks, our classic selection of cocktails and beers, and were also entertained with an egg hunt!

For our third launch, we ventured out of the Plateau and into the fashionable cleanliness of Saint Henri’s Avenue Public. Our launch included a saxophone jazz duet by Kaeman McDonald and Jules Abbott, and a solo show by Everly Lux. We delighted our guests an aspic snack menu inspired by the issue’s editorial menu plus a tasting of Bánh Mì Cu Lắc’s best flavours, and our indispensable specialty cocktails.

festival expozine
Our first Expozine was one of inspiration and expansion. It was great to meet so many creators and readers, making ourselves known and engaging more with the bountiful Montreal print scene. Although we had only printed two issues of the magazine at that point, we made our stand more dynamic by providing our customers with (sober optional) jelly shots and merch with our logo.year 2024launch issue 2
Our second launch included a spectacular homemade feast and a playful custom cocktail menu. Unlike the first launch, the evening was not rainy and our experimental musical guests Antonin Bourgault and Alexandre Gagné were able to delight our guests with a dimly lit garden performance. Manifold Object Text set up a precious selection of books and rare objects for sale, and our selection of poets framed the evening with their enchanting words.
year 2024launch issue 1
Our first launch was a breath of life, the hatching of the egg. We had the honour of having composer and double bassist Pablo Jiménez play a stirring improvised solo set, as well as a fantastical selection of readings from our published poets. Additionally, we had tarot readings by poet and energy therapist Samara Garfinkle, and a perfume pop-up by Earth Note Scents.
We served our guests a red cake that reflected the fullness of our hearts, finger sandwiches, and our classic selection of cocktails.
